Toucan painting on llanchama tree bark canvas by indigenous Huitoto artisans from the Peruvian Amazon (Copy)
Hurry up, only 1 item left in stock.
Three white-throated toucans gather among rainforest branches in this lively original painting by a Huitoto artist from the Peruvian Amazon.
The birds are shown from three different angles, emphasizing their remarkable oversized bills, pale throats, blue facial skin, dark plumage, and flashes of yellow and red. One bird fills the foreground while two others emerge from the branches behind it, creating an animated group portrait.
Warm peach, coral, and yellow tones form an atmospheric background against the birds' dark plumage. Forest branches and leaves weave through the composition, while the fibrous surface of the llanchama remains visible beneath the paint. A blue painted border frames the work.
The painting is signed by a Huitoto artist and was probably created around 2012-2014, most likely by an artist associated with Puca Urquillo on the Ampiyacu River near Pebas. The signature has not yet been confidently deciphered. It is possible that the work was also painted by Percy Diaz, who created several related wildlife paintings in this collection, but that attribution remains unconfirmed.
White-throated toucans are characteristic inhabitants of Amazonian forests and among the region's most immediately recognizable birds. This colorful painting could bring an unmistakably Amazonian presence to a dining room, kitchen, cafe, restaurant, eco-lodge, sunroom, bird lover's home, nature center, or collection of Indigenous and wildlife art.

Display & Shipping
This original llanchama painting is sold unframed. Llanchama is a flexible natural bark cloth that may be professionally framed or mounted according to the buyer's preferred display style. For shipment, the painting will be carefully protected and rolled around a rigid support rather than folded.
Because llanchama is a natural bark cloth, variations in surface texture, thickness, coloration, and edge shape are integral characteristics of the material rather than defects.
